To be honest, if Disney's marketing strategy is as such, then that is their problem. They know how much people love Pocahontas and other "poc's", but they do not care, or simply just do not market them properly. Jasmine and Tiana I do not comprehend, but perhaps they do not market Mulan and Pocahontas well, not because they are women of color, but because they are NOT REAL PRINCESSES. There was already a dispute about that and how historically/ethnically inaccurate Pocahontas and Mulan are.

Technically speaking, you’re right that Pocahontas and Mulan aren’t princesses and don’t fit in with the glitter and ball gowns

However what I don’t get is that if they were uncomfortable marketing them because of controversial issues regarding their films and weren’t princessy enough why would they have decided to add them to the line up in the first place as princesses to be marketed?

It’s entirely within Disney’s realm of capability to market them and place them on products celebrating their characters without making it problematic or offensive but again, they choose not to which is the big issue here

Imo, ignoring them b/c they could be marketed potentially offensive and aren’t stereotypically ‘princessy’ (which has been a problem recently and in the past especially with the redesigns) is a weak excuse for not being inclusive and if that is the case it honestly wouldn’t surprise me here u-u

Reasons why Snow White is a strong princess:

  • She has a stepmother, and in a time period where divorce was condemned this probably means she lost one if not both of her parents (her father is never mentioned)
  • This stepmother abuses her…

I am absolutely thrilled to follow someone who actually voices their disgust at Disney's implied racism towards PoC while still enjoying Disney and/or Disney characters and/or Disney parks. It's also rare to see someone as young as you and also someone who isn't a PoC do this. So yeah. Thank you.

oh gosh im very flattered!! uou thank you

i just rly hope that everyone can understand you can love the shit out of something

but that thing you love can be really awful at times and it’s totally ok to call it out on it’s bullshit because that’s the right thing to do here y/y

as a very awesome blog i follow has stated, disney is inescapable but we can change it

which is why i get really bent over people who think that the princesses are untouchable b/c they aren’t and we’ve proved it a few times yeah

about your woc racist princess line thing: i always attributed that to the fact that they actually ordered the princess by the year they came out ya know?? just googling it now i couldnt find the right image so maybe im crazy

you could make that argument as i have seen a few images where the latest princess is placed in front with the others going back by date released (usually after the princess is just added to promote her) but idk

for most of line up pictures that i regularly see in merchandise and artwork for the disney store and other stuff disney uses them for the majority of the time you’ll find pocahontas and mulan shoved in the back, while jasmine and tiana generally remain a tossup, but for the most part are never in the very front

it’s p late and im on my phone but you can go check out the princess line up products on the disney store site right now and you’ll see what i mean
